1.     INTRODUCTION

The Town of Osnago, with the support of Associazione Culturale Anfiteatro, Gruppo Oloart, Progetto Osnago, Associazione Heart, with the recognition of Regione Lombardia and the Province of Lecco, promotes the 5th Edition of the biennial contemporary art festival La voce del corpo, “The voice of the body” for the year 2018.

The festival sets itself the objective of promoting and valuing contemporary art, bringing to the public the works of artists who express themselves on a common topic.

The festival will take place in the Town of Osnago (LC) from 23 June to 8 July 2018, distributed on a temporal exhibition itinerary that will involve several locations on the territory.

2.     TOPIC

Topic and title chosen for the 2018 biennial: of Joy and Freedom.

May the Voice, the Sign, the Gesture, the Light of the artist pitch themselves towards the joy, in the beauty of freedom.

Joy and freedom. Art has widely explored these two concept (which, I’d say, often go together), but it usually did it illustrating their opposites: desperation and deprivation of rights. It’s always surprising to catch this kind of self-censorship of the positive feelings in art, almost like happiness was a feeling too fleeting, too intimate, even too frivolous to be an artistic subject. For almost three years, a multidisciplinary in which I am personally involved – La Bellezza resta, “The beauty remains” – is promoting the topic of joy of living, a state of mind which sometimes also goes through the experience of pain – as subject of reflection.

Working on this extraordinary project, which is growing year by year and doesn’t hint at stopping, we became aware that joy is viral. The choice of this year’s topic for The voice of the body, the now traditional art kermesse from Osnago, confirms this trend. Speaking about joy and freedom means freeing those positive instincts which we often tend to repress by force of habit, challenging those behaviours which don’t really belong to us but which we inherit from society around us: a society that often proceeds through emotional stereotypes.

What better occasion to release this vital energy than this  container created by the restless genius of Bruno Freddi, conceived exactly as a melting pot of artistic, performative, theatrical expressions in dialogue whit one another? The voice of the body, which is already, by nature, an occasion to free one’s own expressive instinctivity, through all sorts of languages and techniques, now opens itself to a topic that will surely value all its potentials.
